Libya Transformed Into Failed State After NATO's 2011 Intervention, Burkinabé Political Scientist Says
Muammar Gaddafi was the "cement" of the Libyan state and had secured economic successes—such as a surplus external balance of payments and the creation of a sovereign wealth fund—which "bothered" certain actors, Teehl Loé Konaté, a business leader and analyst of geopolitical dynamics and international relations, told Sputnik Africa.
But NATO's intervention plunged the country into chaos and intensified threats across the entire region:
"After more than a decade, Libya still cannot regain national unity, it has not become democratic, and has seen a sharp decline in the population's quality of life. A security chaos has also taken hold south of the Sahara, which was systematically linked to Libya."
