Russia & Ethiopia Explore Broader Cooperation Across Sectors, Including Healthcare: Russian Health Minister

"We note a strong interest in Russian medical products—medical equipment, medications, and nuclear medicine technologies. Ethiopia is an important partner for us on the African continent, so one of the key areas of our bilateral contacts is supporting Russian medical manufacturers' entry into the country's market, and we are actively working on this," Mikhail Murashko said during his visit to Ethiopia, where he met with Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed, the heads of the Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Safety Regulatory Authority, and several other ministries.

The parties discussed plans for the development of the first Russian multi-specialist medical facility in Africa, the Russian Red Cross Hospital named after Dejazmach Balcha in Addis Ababa, the minister’s advisor Alexey Kuznetsov clarified.

Cooperation in the field of medical education is also developing, with over 100 specialists from Ethiopia having already undergone training in Russia, Kuznetsov added.
