Senegal Challenges Loss of Title to Morocco at AFCON: Statement
The Senegalese Football Federation decided to appeal the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, according to an official statement.
"The ruling is unfair, unprecedented and unacceptable, undermining African football," the federation said.
On Tuesday, the CAF Appeals Committee stripped Senegal of its victory in the 2025 AFCON final and recorded the result as 3–0 in favor of the Morocco national team.
The match in Rabat on January 18 saw Senegal initially win 1–0 after extra time. Players left the pitch after a disputed penalty, violating Article 82, which forbids leaving without the referee’s permission. At the end of January, CAF sanctioned the Senegalese federation.
