Trash, Sun & Wind: Fossil Fuel Alternatives Egypt Needs, Says Expert
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East and yet another fuel price hike have pushed Egyptian authorities and the expert community to consider a shift to alternative sources, Ahmed Mustafa, director of the Asia Center for Studies and Translation, told Sputnik.
"Why does Egypt—a country with scorching sun, strong winds, and growing mountains of garbage—continue to rely on imported fossil fuels when proven alternatives exist? Egypt has great renewable energy potential thanks to its waste, sun, and wind, which could provide an excellent alternative to increasingly expensive fossil fuels," the expert noted.
According to Mustafa, Egypt can achieve energy independence through:
🟠Adopting China's waste-to-energy infrastructure to tackle its 90 million tonnes of annual household waste;
🟠 Leveraging AI support to optimize consumption.
