BRICS Has Opportunity to Lead Fairer Global System Amid Current Geopolitical Crisis: SA Researcher
The bloc has always supported reform rather than dominance, Mikatekiso Kubayi told Sputnik Africa, noting “It’s an opportunity for the bloc to lead.”
At the same time, he argued Western actions have eroded credibility, saying “any moral authority evaporated.”
Kubayi added that African and Asian countries are avoiding fixed alliances to preserve sovereignty, while interest in alternative financial systems is growing.
“The BRICS Cross-Border Payment mechanism will be a game-changer,” he highlighted.
However, he cautioned that high financing costs and weak investment flows remain major barriers, slowing Africa’s ability to fully benefit from these shifts.
