Reparations for Slavery: Africa Challenges Western Laws, Says Ivorian Scholar
"Taking European states to court for the transatlantic slave trade [...] is complex, but it is not entirely ruled out," Mian Charles, a doctor in political and social philosophy, told Sputnik Africa.
The Geopolitical Turning Point
This initiative reflects Africa's desire for more balanced relations with former colonial powers, Mian Charles emphasized.

⁉And if such legal action were to succeed?
According to the expert, reparations could then take three forms:
◾Symbolic: official acknowledgments;
◾Financial: reparation funds;
◾Structural: investments in education and infrastructure.
"Reparations rarely take the form of simple compensation," but rather aim to "co-construct a new relationship."
