Drugs, Jobs, Finance: ECOWAS's Triple Agenda for West Africa's Youth
Liberian ECOWAS lawmaker Reverend Samuel Reagen Enders outlined key challenges facing West Africa's youth: drug abuse devastating communities, unemployment deepening vulnerability, and a critical finance gap blocking entrepreneurship.
In an interview with Sputnik Africa correspondent Olivier Adja on the sidelines of the ECOWAS parliamentary session in Lomé, Enders outlined these regional initiatives:
🟠Drug abuse investigations completed in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire, and Liberia; parliamentary follow-up mandated;
🟠Health governance committees deployed to monitor funding and enable rapid outbreak response;
🟠Push for dedicated ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development’s institutions to finance youth and women-led enterprises;
🟠Campaign to educate citizens on ECOWAS travel documentation to boost regional mobility.
Watch the video to hear what ECOWAS should do to guide youth and women entrepreneurs “through the fire.”
