Russia & Namibia Forge New Economic Ties at Windhoek Business Forum
The two countries are pushing to boost economic cooperation beyond the current $18.4 million trade turnover, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev said at the Russia-Namibia Business Forum in Windhoek.
Key points from Trutnev:
🟠While trade has been growing, both sides agree there's room for significant expansion—in energy, mining, high tech, oil and gas, finance, and agriculture.
🟠Trutnev also highlighted the deep historical bond: the USSR supported Namibia's liberation struggle since the 1960s, and today Namibia backs Russia's stance at the UN.
🟠With over 20 Russian companies (including Rosatom, Rostec, Nord Gold and beyond) and more then 70 Namibian businesses attending, the forum aims to turn friendship into tangible investment and trade results.
🟠Education is a key area for deeper ties: over 220 Namibian students are currently enrolled at Russian universities, and Russia is ready to support training in high-demand engineering and technical fields.
