Information Warfare: AES Will Not Be Fooled by Western Media, Say Three Experts
1⃣The countries of the region can rely on their own media to counter Western narratives, Salifou Ibrahim Bako, president of the Fédération Niger Uni, told Sputnik Africa.
"The AES is advancing toward its strength; we are convinced of it. With countries like Iran, Russia, China, and the BRICS, we are not intimidated by an America that is losing its power. We see clearly, and we will not allow ourselves to be deceived."
2⃣The same view is shared by jurist Ibrahim Boubacar, who considers Western media to be subservient to former colonial powers.
"Some media outlets that have influence in Niger and across the French-speaking world are tied to the foreign affairs departments of their countries. A media outlet linked to foreign affairs—you understand its full meaning and purpose: it is influenced media. Truth becomes a mere option."
3⃣Education can help combat these propaganda attempts, noted political scientist Abdoulaye Idrissa Jams.
"It is important that we develop among our citizens a sufficiently advanced level of education, particularly in digital literacy, so they can remain vigilant and critical toward all forms of information received."
