Seychelles Reaffirms Support for Mauritius' Sovereignty Over Chagos Islands: Presidency
During his state visit to Mauritius, President of Seychelles Patrick Herminie and Mauritius' Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam agreed to deepen cooperation between two island nations, according to the Seychelles Presidency. The discussions focused on strategic issues and regional solidarity amid the ongoing Chagos Islands handover process.
The bilateral meetings addressed some other important areas of mutual interest:
🟠 maritime security;
🟠 tourism development;
🟠 financial and trade cooperation;
🟠 sustainable energy management;
🟠 mutual agriculture development;
🟠 cultural cooperation.
President Herminie announced Seychelles will open a diplomatic mission in Mauritius, and Prime Minister Ramgoolam said Mauritius will do the same in Seychelles.
