DRC Launches First Pilot Gold Refinery in Kalemie: Ministry of Mines
DRC GOLD Refinery S.A. has a production capacity of 500-600 kg of gold per month, according to the ministry's official statement.
The facility will refine gold to 99.9% purity and provide fair pricing, transparency, and benefits for artisanal miners.
The launch was attended by key officials, including the Minister of Mines, Louis Watum Kabamba, who praised the government's efforts to enhance economic development through the nation's natural resources.
He also urged an end to fraudulent practices and smuggling, calling for integration into the official gold trading system.
The refinery is seen as a major step toward ensuring the DRC’s gold sector benefits the Congolese people through transparency and local value creation.
