Western Knowledge Failed to Strengthen Ethiopia’s Wildlife Conservation: Ethiopian Forum Participants
Prioritizing imported Western knowledge over Ethiopia's indigenous expertise has undermined wildlife protection efforts, senior officials and experts said at the 60th anniversary of the Ethiopian Wildlife Development and Conservation Authority.
Participants emphasized that effective conservation requires integrating local, community-based knowledge rather than simply adopting foreign approaches, as reported by a Sputnik Africa correspondent.
The discussion brought together Director General of the Authority Kumera Wakjira, Minister of Tourism Seleshi Girma, members of the House of People’s Representatives, ambassadors, wildlife researchers, conservation rangers.
