Energy Shock in Europe May 'Quickly Turn Into Global Economic Shocks': French Politician

This type of crisis, like the one in the Middle East, often has a broader impact than just energy prices, Pedro Guanaes, host of Fréquence Populaire Média, told Sputnik Africa.

"Europe could suffer a combination of two factors: rise in energy prices, additional inflationary pressure and slowdown in growth," he said.

African producer countries like Nigeria or Angola, on the contrary, can benefit from the conjuncture in the short term but the rise in energy prices impacts transport, electricity or food, the speaker emphasized.
