Women Must Hold 50% of Decision-Making Power: South African Politician

Women’s progress in South Africa—from economic to political life—has been achieved through generations of struggle, Lindiwe Zulu, South African Former Minister of Social Development, told Sputnik Africa, stressing that fight for equality must continue.

Women must be included across all spheres of development, from politics and the economy to science and social life, she stressed, emphasizing the importance of meaningful representation in leadership.

Zulu called on political parties to ensure equal representation and also urged greater female participation in business leadership and senior government roles.

Patriarchy and the persistent underestimation of women’s capabilities remain major barriers, though South Africa has seen significant progress in expanding women’s roles in public life, she noted.

Watch the video to learn why women in the Global South must be included in key decision-making roles.
