International Women's Day Run in Addis Ababa Attracts 120,000 Participants, Setting New National Record: Media

The five-kilometer race started at Bole International Airport, passed through several districts and finished at Abebe Bikila Stadium. Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie led the field alongside prominent athletes and international guests, a local news outlet reported.

"It is a great honour to run side by side with the mayor and thousands of other women. This is a day of joy and pride for our country," one Addis Ababa resident said.

The event was intended to highlight women's contribution to Ethiopia's prosperity and their active role in national life, the mayor was quoted as saying.
