World Should Appreciate How Artistic Africans Are: Ghanaian Guinness Record Holder

In an interview with Sputnik Africa on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Juliana Gharbin, a Ghanaian beader who created the world’s largest beaded bag sculpture, said her inspiration came from her love for bead art and her desire to showcase African, particularly Ghanaian, art history.

The bag represents Ghanaian and African identity, featuring the national colors—red, gold, and green—and two Adinkra symbols symbolizing loyalty and priestly office, Gharbin said.

The design reflects African craftsmanship and tells the story of Ghanaian artistic talent, she added.

Watch the video to hear Gharbin’s advice on why starting and staying focused can help women and girls across Africa achieve their dreams.
