N'Djamena Marks Opening of Mosque Bearing Name of Morocco's King Mohammed VI

The new complex spans around 33,000 square meters and can accommodate more than 3,000 people.

The mosque will serve both as a place of worship and a center of cultural influence, Moroccan Ambassador to N'Djamena Abdellatif Erroja emphasized at the opening ceremony on March 6.

A posthumous tribute was paid at the ceremony to Sheikh Hissein Hassan Abakar, former President of Chad's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, for his contribution to the project.

The first Friday prayer held at the mosque highlighted the deepening spiritual and academic ties between Morocco and Chad, as well as the mission of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Scholars.
