Claims of Iran Sponsoring Terrorism in Nigeria & Europe 'Entirely Unfounded': Envoy
Iran has itself suffered decades of terrorist attacks affecting thousands of its citizens, the Ambassador of Iran to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja, was quoted by a Nigerian news outlet as saying.
“Such allegations [...] form part of a propaganda campaign by a [Israeli] regime that has a long record of violence and violations of international law,” he added.
Nigeria holds a significant and influential place in Iran's engagement with the African continent, a news outlet noted, citing Raja.
“Iran seeks constructive, long-term engagement with Nigeria and all African countries,” he emphasized.
Previously, in an interview with a local news outlet, the Israeli ambassador accused Tehran of sponsoring terrorism in Nigeria and across Europe, citing the allegations as justification for the ongoing military offensive against Iran.
