The British company failed to honor its contractual commitments in the Agadem basin, particularly the minimum work programs stipulated in the production-sharing agreement.

This decision is "to be commended," said Moussa Hamidou, who urged the ministry of mines to "review" permits where companies are conducting no work at all.
"The state must truly ensure this and withdraw these permits to award them to serious companies that can actually carry out the work," emphasized the civil society actor.
Foreign companies benefit from tax exemptions, recalled sociopolitical analyst Abdou Moumouni Dandossa.
In return, they are required to invest and create jobs. But "due to laxity," these commitments are often not honored, he lamented.
