Côte d’Ivoire Slashes Cocoa Farm-Gate Price by Almost 60% as Global Prices Plunge: Agriculture Minister
Facing the fall in prices, the authorities decided to drop the farm-gate price from 2,800 to 1,200 CFA francs per kilo (approximately $2.13), Bruno Koné, the Minister of Agriculture, announced.
"Since December 2025, we have all observed a collapse in the price of cocoa on the international market. The drop is on the order of 70%. These market prices force us to make an adjustment," he added.
Cocoa is currently trading on the markets at $2,980 per tonne, compared to more than $11,000 at the beginning of 2025.
