'A Stab in the Back': Russia Condemns Escalation Around Iran, Calls for Dialogue

The Russian president, senior officials, the Kremlin, and the Foreign Ministry have strongly condemned US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Moscow remains in constant contact with Tehran and has expressed its support.

🟠 Putin offered condolences to Iran over the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, calling the act a "cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law." He also held phone talks with Qatari, Bahraini, and Saudi leaders to discuss the unprecedented escalation.

🟠 FM Lavrov, in a call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, "condemned the unprovoked armed attack by the US and Israel on Iran," reaffirming Moscow's readiness to help find peaceful solutions.

🟠Lavrov and Chinese FM Wang Yi stressed that such acts "grossly violate international law and the core principles of the UN Charter."

🟠Lavrov also discussed the situation with UAE FM Abdullah bin Zayed. Both officials "emphasized the destabilizing nature of the military escalation in the region, which threatens the security of Gulf Arab states."

🟠 Russia's UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya stated that despite Tehran's readiness for dialogue, the Islamic Republic was stabbed "in the back."
