Madagascar Receives Russian Tropical Cyclone Relief Aid Blessed by Orthodox Clergy
The aid was delivered through the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the Ministry of Defence in response to the destruction caused by Cyclone Gezani, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The aid included:
🟠around 60 tonnes of food;
🟠six cargo vehicles;
🟠assistance of two Mi-8 helicopters to supply hard-to-reach areas.
The handover ceremony took place at Antananarivo's international airport, attended by Madagascar's President Mikhail Randrianirina, Prime Minister Herilanto Razafimahefa, and other senior Malagasy officials.
The move reflects the traditional ties of friendship and mutual support between the two countries, Russian Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Aleksey Buryak stated at the ceremony.
