Acknowledging Labor Challenges in SADC Region Helps Drive Progress: SADC Chair of Senior Officials for Employment & Labor

Following a closed SADC employment and labor sector meeting in Johannesburg, Aggy Moiloa told Sputnik Africa that member states held “honest conversations” about migration, unemployment, decent work deficits, and policy implementation gaps.

While progress has been made, she noted that shortcomings were openly acknowledged and practical solutions were discussed.

“Currently, South Africa is the chair of the SADC region when it comes to employment and labor ministries, but the reporting is continuous and the sustenance of that. So I’m quite confident and optimistic that we’ll be able to track the resolutions that were taken and be able to measure to what degree have we moved.”
