Collective Action on Jobs and Visas Can Move SADC Forward, SADC Official Representative Says
On the sidelines of the SADC Employment and Labor Sector senior officials meeting, Nester Mukwehwa, representing the chairperson of the SADC Private Sector Forum, explained that the gathering prepares key documents that feed into the Ministers of Employment and Labor meeting, bringing together social partners from business across Southern Africa.
Among the main challenges discussed were “high informality [...], high unemployment, low wages, low business, SMEs failing to get access to finance their businesses,” she said — adding that “these challenges can be turned into opportunities.”
On visa barriers within the region, Mukwehwa stressed the importance of collective solutions.
“If we work as a collective, then we can move this region forward,” she told Sputnik Africa.
