Chad Closes Border With Sudan Amid Rebels' Cross-Border Incursions, Government Says

The decision follows "repeated incursions" into Chad and aims to prevent spillover of the conflict, protect citizens and refugees, and preserve Chad’s stability and territorial integrity, the government said in a statement.

All Chad–Sudan border crossings are closed indefinitely, halting all movement of people and goods—except for humanitarian cases granted prior authorization by authorities, it noted.

The move follows intensified fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF in North and West Darfur, as well as recently reported RSF attacks on Chadian military camps near the border.

The Sudanese authorities have yet to comment on Chad's decision.
