Egypt Uncovers Cluster of Rock-Cut Old Kingdom Tombs
A Supreme Council of Antiquities expedition made the discovery at the Qubbet Al-Hawa site in Aswan, Egypt's State Information Service reported.
The tombs feature burial shafts and chambers that shed new light on funerary traditions from one of ancient Egypt's earliest eras.
Among the most significant finds:
🟠 around 160 various pottery vessels, many well-preserved, bearing hieratic script inscriptions and believed to be used for liquids and grains;
🟠 alabaster kohl containers, bronze mirrors, and colourful bead necklaces;
🟠 a collection of Middle Kingdom amulets.
Qubbet Al-Hawa is one of Upper Egypt's most significant archaeological sites, with a necropolis spanning from the Old Kingdom through the Greco-Roman era.
