Meta* Reportedly Begins Talks With Gabon After Authorities Suspend Its Platforms
Gabon’s communications regulator ordered the immediate suspension of Meta’s platforms over content considered capable of disrupting public order, prompting the company to enter negotiations with the authorities, state-owned media reported, citing a presidential spokeswoman.
The suspension concerns the digital platforms of Meta, not all social networks, Mélodie Samba noted. Moreover, the measures taken are not permanent but rather targeted in nature.
According to her, the country's authorities have been sending warnings to the company for a year and a half due to the publication of defamatory materials that hinder social cohesion.
