Zimbabwe Slashes Tourism Licensing Fees to Boost Investment and Regional Competitiveness: Media

Zimbabwe has announced new regulations cutting tourism licensing fees by up to 50%, a move analysts say will attract foreign direct investment and help operators modernize facilities long neglected due to high regulatory costs, a state news outlet reported.

Key fee reductions include:

🟠 Five-star hotel registration: $5,250 to $2,000

🟠 Aircraft registration: $500–$1,000 to $20

🟠 Guesthouses: $500 to $150

🟠 Restaurants and travel agencies: $305 to $100

🟠 External tour operators: $3,000 to $1,500

Digitalization of licensing processes is also underway, eliminating renewal delays that previously stretched up to six months, Emmanuel Fundira, the president of the Safari Operations Association of Zimbabwe, noted.

Tourism is Zimbabwe's third-largest economic pillar, generating over $1 billion annually. In December, the country earned "World’s Number One Destination to Visit in 2025" status by the Australian edition of Forbes magazine.
