Zimbabwe Forecasts Record Tobacco Output for 2026: Agriculture Ministry
Africa's largest producer of flue-cured tobacco expects to produce over 360 million kg of the product this year, surpassing the 2025 record of 355 million kg, according to the ministry.
Key points:
🟠Farmers have planted 164,536 hectares—15% more than last year.
🟠Exports so far this year total 54.8 million kg, up 64% from the same period in 2025, with earnings rising 74% to $399.8 million.
🟠Most exports go to the Far East, the Middle East, and Europe.
Tobacco remains one of Zimbabwe's biggest foreign currency earners. Its selling season usually begins in early March and runs through October.
