'Addis Ababa is the New Dubai of Africa': Kenyan MP
Junet Mohamed highly admired the rapid economic and infrastructure development that Ethiopia has achieved in the past few years.
"Addis Ababa has now become the new Dubai of Africa. We have a lot of lessons to learn from that country on how they have developed that city into a modern city in less than 10 years," he said.
Beyond this, he presented a call for the Kenyan government to facilitate the Lamu port for Ethiopia in a special manner.
"That port is going to serve the Ethiopian people in the way they need. We should also give it to them," Mohamed added.
He further emphasized that this economic partnership should extend beyond port access to energy cooperation. Mentioning Ethiopia's extensive electricity power supply capacity, the people's representative pointed out that Kenya should seize the opportunity to import electricity from Ethiopia extensively—turning the bilateral relationship into a comprehensive economic partnership built on shared infrastructure and mutual growth.
