South Africa Pushes Raw Material Beneficiation With Small Mining Enterprises: SA Manager

South Africa secures all feasible beneficiation reductions on operators' kilowatt-hour payments to keep it sustainable, Abe Andries, Head of Mining at Business and Commercial Banking at Standard Bank South Africa told Sputnik Africa.

"I still believe that the transition of mining or the evolving of mining, to where it is now; it is in a very exciting space, allowing the entrance of the newcomers into the space to play a bigger role, different from what it was before," he added.

However, the speaker added, some other good steps in terms of the beneficiation that can be talent by the "small-scale" miners.

"So, a bill is there that needs to be adopted, needing to be signed into law, and that, on its own, it says it allows the new entrance on that scale," Andries noted.

Regarding the partnerships, the interest is to follow the commodities or the ore that is mined, he emphasized.

"So, there is a very close relationship in the BRICS, exclusively so of China and India, where we export most of our minerals," the speaker stressed.
