The AU hailed the participation of 15 African athletes from 8 countries at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics—a significant rise from just 6 athletes from 5 countries in Beijing 2022.

South Africa: Fields the largest delegation with 5 athletes, a record for the nation.
Kenya: Represented by 2 athletes.
Madagascar: Represented by 2 athletes, including Mialitiana Clerc—the first African woman to compete in three Winter Olympics.
Morocco: Represented by 2 athletes.
Nigeria: Represented by 1 athlete.
Eritrea: Represented by 1 athlete.
Benin: Making its Winter Olympic debut with 1 athlete.
Guinea-Bissau: Making its Winter Olympic debut with 1 athlete
