Nationalize Mines, Control Economy to Keep African Youth, Says South African Lawmaker

African youth should stay and build the continent, Frans Kamokgelo Ngobeni, a member of South Africa’s Gauteng Provincial Legislature said, calling on them to channel their skills locally and engage in politics to drive policy change.

Speaking to Sputnik Africa, he proposed:

🟠Nationalizing mineral resources currently held by foreign entities to fund development and create opportunities;

🟠Advancing Pan-Africanism through a single African currency and a continental central bank;

🟠Removing “colonized border gates” within regions like SADC to enable free movement of people and ideas;

🟠Using BRICS partnerships as a springboard for a stronger African economy.

He endorsed Botswana’s president’s recent appeal for youth to remain in Africa and stressed their vital role in driving innovation during the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
