Egypt, Arab League Condemn Rebel Attacks on Humanitarian Convoys & Medical Facilities in Sudan

Cairo denounced what it called “repeated brutal attacks” on aid convoys and medical facilities in Sudan, citing a drone strike on a WFP convoy in North Kordofan that killed an aid worker and wounded others, as well as a separate incident that left at least 24 dead.

The Foreign Ministry warned that such actions undermine relief efforts amid severe displacement and food shortages, and called for unimpeded humanitarian access and civilian protection.

The Arab League also denounced the attacks as a “war crime under international humanitarian law,” with Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stating that targeting civilians and cutting off survival means is prohibited.

He stressed the need for accountability and full protection for civilians and aid workers.
