CAR Armed Forces Eliminate Over 20 Militants Near South Sudan Border
Illegal armed bandit groups were operating in the border area of Haute-Kotto prefecture, engaging in the illegal extraction and appropriation of natural resources while posing a threat to local security, according to a communiqué from the Central African Armed Forces obtained by Sputnik.
The airborne operation involved units supported by Russian allies. Four helicopters were deployed to ensure mobility and fire support, the armed forces stated.
"Security forces managed to establish full control over the operation zone, where several field camps of the criminal groups were discovered and destroyed," it noted.
