Namibia's President Warns of Global Uncertainty, Calls for Principled Leadership
The country is operating in an increasingly unstable global environment marked by shifting alliances, conflicts, and selective enforcement of international rules, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has warned.
Global politics is changing rapidly, she noted, cautioning that “What seems normal now could become unacceptable in the future,” and that decisions affecting sovereign nations are sometimes made outside established international frameworks.
Despite these challenges, the president reaffirmed Namibia’s firm stance on global affairs.
“We must uphold our principles,” she said at the first cabinet meeting of 2026.
She highlighted the importance of sovereignty, equality among nations, and peaceful conflict resolution through diplomacy and international law.
She also appealed for empathy and accountability, reminding cabinet members that “we therefore cannot and must not fail our people.”
