Nigeria Aims to Be Global Force by 2050 Through Current Reforms, Says Minister

The often-challenging economic and governance reforms enacted under President Bola Tinubu are a necessary foundation for long-term growth, according to Information Minister Mohammed Idris.

These policies are already spurring investment and creating opportunities in technology, agriculture, and renewable energy, with youth as the primary beneficiaries, he told a university graduation ceremony in Minna.

Idris addressed public concerns regarding new tax laws, clarifying that their aim is to create a fairer and more transparent system to fund national development, not to increase burdens on citizens.

He cited the National Education Loan Fund, which has supported over 900,000 students, as an example of government-backed investment in the future workforce.

The minister urged new graduates to actively engage with emerging opportunities and consider public service, emphasizing that nation-building is a collective effort that begins immediately.
