Nigerian Troops Eliminate Top Boko Haram Commander in Night Raid, Army Says
In an operation in Borno State, Nigerian troops killed Abu Khalid—identified as Boko Haram’s* second-in-command in the Sambisa Forest—alongside 10 other terrorists, the army said in a statement.
The strike, carried out by Operation HADIN KAI and civilian allies, also recovered weapons, ammo, bikes, food, and medical supplies, it noted, stressing that no soldier was lost.
The success follows the elimination of another top Boko Haram/ISWAP* commander just 24 hours earlier, the army pointed out, adding clearance operations continue across key terrorist hideouts in the Northeast.
