The 86th Agew Horsemen Festival burst with vibrant energy in Injibara, the capital of Ethiopia's Awi Zone in the Amhara Region, graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, local media reported.
Key highlights of the festival:
🟠This beloved annual event honors the Awi people's brave historical patriots and the central importance of horses in daily life, warfare, agriculture, and heritage.
🟠Riders of all generations (adults, youth, women, and children) at Injibara Multipurpose Stadium wowed the crowd with skillful, graceful, and traditional equestrian performances.
🟠A creative showcase titled "From Mofer to Tractor" illustrated Ethiopia's agricultural evolution, from traditional wooden plows (mofer) drawn by oxen or horses to modern tractors and machinery.
🟠Exquisite traditional Agew horses were presented as heartfelt gifts to distinguished guests: Deputy PM Temesgen Tiruneh, the Awi Zone president, and PM Abiy Ahmed's advisor.
