Major Resort Shabeely Inaugurated in Ethiopia's Somali Region, Says Prime Minister's Office
A new resort showcasing Ethiopia's natural and cultural wealth has been officially opened in the country's Somali Region, Abiy Ahmed's office announced.
The Shabeely Resort, situated on 385 hectares of land, features:
51 guest rooms
Three restaurants with a total capacity for 1,200 guests
A cultural center
Modern festival and conference halls
Children's play areas
15.4 kilometers of walking trails
A fruit park with 10,000 trees
A camel park
"Shabeely marks a milestone in Ethiopia’s journey to become one of Africa’s top tourist destinations. This project embodies the Medemer spirit—turning Ethiopia’s dreams into reality by transforming our abundant natural and cultural endowments into a shared heritage for the world," office stated.
The resort is part of the broader "Geda Legacy" development project.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the presidents of Somalia and Djibouti, who are currently visiting Ethiopia on an official trip.
