The African country's "engagement and re-engagement" foreign policy is deepening its longstanding strategic partnership with Moscow, Russian Ambassador in Harare Nikolay Krasilnikov told Zimbabwean media.
The diplomat expressed optimism for a shared prosperous future as the two nations mark 45 years of diplomatic relations in February.
Key points from Krasilnikov's statements:
🟠Cooperation has accelerated significantly since 2017, driven by a strong mutual understanding between Presidents Putin and Mnangagwa;
🟠Key areas of collaboration include mining (with Russia's leading diamond mining and distribution company Alrosa), healthcare (including a national air ambulance service), and education;
🟠Zimbabwe’s “open for business” policy is cited as a major impulse for boosting economic engagement;
🟠A high-level bilateral commission meeting is planned in Zimbabwe this year to advance joint projects;
🟠Moscow views Harare as a strong potential host for a future Russia-Africa summit.
