AU Commission Chair Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Niger
The recent terrorist attacks in Niger are “heinous acts” by violent extremists deliberately targeting civilians and infrastructure, AUC Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said, expressing the AU’s solidarity with Niger and condolences to the victims’ families and the government.

🟠The condemned attacks include an armed assault on Hamani Diori International Airport in Niamey and a deadly attack in the village of Bosiye that killed around thirty civilians.
🟠Youssouf commended the swift response of Nigerien security forces, which contained the airport assault.
🟠He reiterated that terrorism and violent extremism pose a grave threat to peace, stability, and territorial integrity in the region.
🟠The AU reaffirmed its readiness to support Niger's counter-terrorism efforts in coordination with regional partners.
