Nigeria’s Zamfara State Police Arrest 38-Year-Old Man for Allegedly Possessing Explosive Materials
Acting on credible intelligence, Zamfara State Police’s Task Force on Illegal Mining arrested Mustapha Mohammad while he was driving a Toyota Corolla, according to a police statement.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 954 suspected explosive items hidden in polyethylene bags, according to police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar.
The explosives were likely meant for bandits to use as improvised devices, police said. The suspect is in custody, and the materials have been handed to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit for analysis and safekeeping.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the source and destination of the materials and to identify and arrest any accomplices, Abubakar said.
