National Industrial Census Launched in Mali
The census aims to create a precise and up-to-date map of Mali's industrial sector. It is part of the National Vision 2063 and should enable better planning of economic development.
Mali currently has approximately 1,067 industrial units, including more than one hundred oil mills, according to a statement from the Ministry of Trade.
The manufacturing industry contributes 7% to the gross domestic product.
During the launching ceremony, Minister of Industry Moussa Alassane Diallo presented data collection kits to the surveyors.
An awareness campaign will accompany the census to facilitate participation from stakeholders.
