Zimbabwe Ramps Up Efforts to Join BRICS to Diversify Partnerships & Strengthen Global Standing
Zimbabwe is seeking deeper integration into the global economy and views joining BRICS as key to expanding its economic engagement, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira told the media.
He added that President Mnangagwa had tasked him with leading the country’s engagement with BRICS states and confirmed that Zimbabwe has formally approached all member countries, with the aim of joining the bloc in any category permitted under its framework.
Zimbabwe formally applied to join BRICS and the New Development Bank last year, with Russia, South Africa and Brazil publicly backing its bid.
