Moscow Goes Straight to Core of Ukrainian Crisis in US-Russia Talks at Kremlin, Says Argentine Expert
Vladimir Putin’s government once again demonstrated it “doesn’t engage in double talk” and has always been “direct” in seeking a solution to the conflict “from the root of the problem,” geopolitical analyst Tadeo Casteglione told Sputnik.
“The crucial point—still unresolved—is the territorial issue,” the expert noted, adding that Moscow’s stance is to “move negotiations forward with the hope that Ukraine understands the root of the problem.”
Early on Friday, Putin held talks with US envoys to advance Russian-US negotiations on Ukraine. The meeting was described by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov as “constructive and extremely frank.”
“The ball is now in Ukraine’s court. Ukraine needs to come to its senses and recognize it has been used to destabilize Russia. Moscow was frank, direct, and once again showed its reconciliatory intent and seriousness at the negotiating table for lasting peace,” he added.
During the meeting, the parties agreed that the first session of the trilateral working group on security—with representatives from Russia, the US, and Ukraine—will be held in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
