Morocco to Take Legal Action Over CAF Final
Morocco lost 1–0 to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat after extra time, despite being awarded a last-minute penalty in regulation.
Senegalese players walked off in protest after a video assistant referee decision awarded Morocco a penalty for a shoulder tug on striker Brahim Diaz, who missed the spot kick after waiting 14 minutes for Senegal to return.
"This situation had a significant impact on the normal course of the match and on the players' performance," the Royal Moroccan Football Federation stated.
It’s unclear what Morocco hopes to gain from its legal complaint beyond formally protesting the match outcome.
