'The Geopolitical Rivalry': US is the Only Threat to Greenland, Expert Emphasizes
18:16 14.01.2026 (Updated: 18:55 14.01.2026) Washington does not mention the island's importance for international trade or its natural resources, limiting itself to claiming that it wants to occupy Greenland to protect it from the perceived threat posed by Russia and China, sociologist Nahia Sanzo told Sputnik.
"It’s completely illogical and simply won’t happen. We’re no longer in the realm of logic; we’re in the sphere of unrestrained US ambitions that want this territory just because they want it. Thus, we’re dealing not only with geopolitical rivalry and great-power competition, but also with the humiliation of NATO’s European allies."
