Russia & Namibia Gear Up for High-Level Talks in Windhoek
Moscow and Windhoek are finalizing plans for the 11th session of the Russia–Namibia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, set to take place in Namibia in 2026.
The decision was confirmed during a meeting in Moscow between Russian Deputy PM Yuri Trutnev and Namibian FM Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, co-chairs of the commission, according to Trutnev’s press service.
Trutnev emphasized the “enduring friendship” between the two nations, recalling Namibian President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s repeated visits to Russia and her consistent goodwill toward Moscow. He asked Ashipala-Musavyi to convey his personal thanks and best wishes.
Both sides discussed boosting trade and cooperation in geology, mining, and education, and agreed to hold a business forum alongside the 2026 commission meeting, with support from Russia.
Later in the day, Ashipala-Musavyi will hold talks and a joint press conference with Sergey Lavrov.
