EU faces collapse as NATO loses power – analyst

The structure of Europe may change in the near future, Turkish political analyst Deniz Yildiz told Sputnik.

Germany is grappling with an energy crisis, and the UK monarchy may soon cease to exist and Hungary is increasingly distancing itself from the pan-European agenda, according to Yildiz.

She warned that in these circumstances, the EU risks falling apart, while and NATO’s strength has already weakened.

The analyst added that all these processes, seemingly disparate at first glance, add up to a single picture: Europe is losing its former "glue," and its common mechanisms of solidarity and decision-making are functioning from bad to worse.

When each European capital begins to save primarily itself—in energy, economy, and security—this inevitably increases the risk of centrifugal tendencies within the EU and makes NATO less cohesive and less predictable, Yildiz concluded.
